One Month Old!

On Monday Mikayla turned one month old! Yesterday at the one month check up she was 10 pounds (75th percentile) and 22 inches long (75th percentile) and healthy. Such a sense of relief knowing everything is going the way it should and that she is taking in all the nutrients she needs to grow. I have already begun to look back on the pictures from her first week and try to remember what it was like.

Funny story about our first grocery store outing as a family. :) This weekend we went to Stew Leonards (a HUGE grocery store here) because we wanted to grab some of their amazing ice cream and then we decided to go in and get a few things we needed for Easter lunch. Well first of all the place was a mad house... we could hardly maneuver around the other carts. Here are the events that took place as new parents...

- Um what do we do with the car seat? Should we take in the stroller? ElisaBeth suggests putting it in the basket of the cart to which Dhrumil asks where will the food go to which ElisaBeth replies... around her. Dhrumil then proceeds to say he saw people put the seat on the front part and while both parents are "discussing" this technique they are standing in the middle of the parking lot not paying attention to the person in his car who thinks they are going into their car and leaving. Thus the seat is attached to the top and the person in the car realizes the parents aren't going anywhere.

- Once Dhrumil and ElisaBeth enter the store they see food they like, the both take off to grab that food and then ElisaBeth yells to Dhrumil "stay with the child" to which Dhrumil says "oh"

- Again after discussing who will stay with the cart since they now have a child in it Dhrumil and ElisaBeth see food they like, they both start walking off again to which ElisaBeth again replies "WE HAVE A CHILD WE CANT WALK AWAY"

- By the end of the visit both parents remembered they had a child and did not leave the cart

- The child slept through this

- Ice cream maneuver was next, ElisaBeth and Dhrumil both had huge cones of soft serve in hand, Dhrumil could not direct the cart with one hand, ElisaBeth was trying to lick the cone before it melted and didn't have the hands to help, in the end Dhrumil pushed from the front and ElisaBeth steered from the back

- Arriving at the car the parents look at each other, the baby, the cart of food and the two ice cream cones, a person in a car looks at them and stops to wait for their spot adding pressure. Dhrumil hands cone to ElisaBeth, figures out how to put baby back in car, ElisaBeth says to leave car door open for air as they then go as fast as possible to get food in car, cones in car and then leave the premises.

SO much to learn... :)

Elisabeth I love this! It is such a (at least I imagine it to be) true part of being new parents that so many people don't share! Thanks for letting us in our your first parent moments!
